ICM-S005 1/350 Markgraf German WW1 Battleship model kitSMS Markgraf is König Class Dreadnought Battleship. Basically this class were improved Kaisers with similar protection and propulsion but with an improved main armament lay out. Late in the war the forward pole mast was replaced with a more substantial tubular mast necessary to carry the improved fire control equipment that ships were fitted with during the war. SMS Markgraf was built at Weser, Bremen (laid down November 1911, completed October 1914). SMS Grosser Kurfürst at the time of the surrender of the High Seas Fleet. The large white circles on the forward turrets were added late in the war to aid recognition of the ships from aircraft to help prevent "friendly fire" incidents.
World War 1 Service:
III Battle Squadron.
Battle of Jutland 1916. Fired 254 12 inch rounds. Hit by 3 15 inch 2 13.5 inch shells causing 11 dead and 13 wounded.
July 1916 repairs at Hamburg.
October1917 operations in the Baltic Islands.
Interned and Scuttled at Scapa Flow at the end of World War 1
