This book is dedicated to the war in Afghanistan (1979-1988), namely battle activity of reconnaissance parts and subdivisions of 40-th Army making the most prepared and combat-capable force of the Soviet contingent in the Afghani campaign. Apart from the description of activity of the army scouts, the writers have given attention to Soviet reconnaissance special-purpose forces - SpezNaz GRU of a General Staff, which one had to decide complexity of operational tasks. In the book the structure of reconnaissance formings and their role in the Afghani events is described, the problems of life and household activities of the soldiers are affected, the arms, munition and equipment of the scouts, feature of tactics and application of reconnaissance in battlesituations is described. A lot of very interesting materials, previously restricted.
