During more then two hundred years of Russian presence in the Caucasus region it continuously struggles against separatism of the single official or unofficial leaders of the local nationalities. Sometimes that struggle ends up into armed opposition and the end of the twentieth century did not become different. The federal troops or just the Russian soldiers came into collision with the strong resistance of the proud, independent, sometimes even incomprehensible people. While during the years of perestroika a whole generation of men, who are able only to kill, was grown up. It took nearly five years for the Russian Army to develop the ways how to struggle and to suppress the active resistance of Chechen people. After every war it should be passed about several decades so we can look fairly and sensibly on its reasons and results. That's why at twentieth (2001) when the languid partisan war is still going on, it's very complicated to do. In that book we call yours attention to both Chechen war from the side of an independent beholder. And we also try to tell in brief the course of the military actions and the tactics of the opponents. The materials from Russian and foreign press was put as the basis of the book.
