On the early 1917 some Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter received a new role - interceptor plane. Raids of the Zeppelins and Gotha bombers was serious problem for Britain military leaders and different attempts to oppose it realized. Pilots dubbed these planes - Comic fighters, because of it's mediocre technical performances.
