Today it's not a secret that in 1950-1953 in the sky of the Northern Korea and China the Soviet pilots, who were dressed in the uniform of the Chinese pilots and under the pseudonyms, fought against the multinational UNO forces, mainly the USA Air Forces, on the side united Chinese and Korean parties. The Soviet pilots were the servicemen of the 64th fighters aviation Corps. One of those pilots-ace, who brought down the twenty enemies aircrafts in the Korean sky, was the Commander of the fighters aviation regiment, the hero of the USSR, colonel Eugeniy G. Pepelyaev. He is the author of this book.
The book that is suggested to the readers, named "MIGs against Sabres" (the memories of the pilot ) has get its own history, the special depth, contents a lot of unique details of those unforgettable days and also the thoughts and conclusions of the military professional that are still valuable. The book might be called interesting both for wide range of the readers and for the narrow circle of specialists. It might be referred to the class of the memories literature also it can be used as the subject to learn the base of the aviation battle tactics, the principles of the military training for the aviation formations, units and sub-units, the history of military art by some specialists, for the education of young people.
The name "MIGs against Sabres" was rather happy choice. It attaches special accent to those distant events and gives the most full characteristics for that historical period the existed confrontation of two systems, sciences, technologies, people and military technics. The taken book name directly reflects the main book content, also shows the sharpness of the struggle for the predominance between US and Russia pilots in the Korean sky.
Only on circumstance might be a reason for regret that the suggested book was delayed to be printed in time because of the state secret veil that covered those distant times. In the same time due the importance and brightness of those remote events, historical military details, bright examples which showed the skills of the Soviet pilots to struggle with the opponent and to win them in a battle and also due the special depth and the spirit of the events written by author, the book is aimed for the modern perception of it by the reader. It would be read with an interest both by the young readers and by the veterans of war.
