The Leningrad strategic operation (10 July -30 September 1941) was conducted by troops of the Northern Front (which became the Leningrad Front on 23 August 1941) and North-Western Front, both supported by the Baltic Fleet. The first of the two books narrating about these events, tells the reader of the Leningrad Military District deploying into the Northern Front, about battles waged for retaining Estonia, combats in Karelia and on the Luga defence line. Despite the failures of the first months of that war, the Soviet troops were constantly delivering quite strong counterattacks against Wehrmacht and the Finnish Army, while demonstrating the best qualities of Russian warriors - personal bravery, love for the Motherland and the ability to keep up their courage in most critical situations.
This book contains 105 photographs, as well as drawings of combat equipment, maps of combat operation areas.
