This book is dedicated to the fiercest and most complex stage of the battle for Leningrad. In late August 1941, German troops reached the suburbs of Russia's northern capital and even the leadership of Soviet Union was inclined to think that the city would be deserted by the Red Army and surrendered. But the military strategic talent of G.K.Zhukov appointed to command the Leningrad Front, and the heroic fighting of the city's defenders made successful contributions to achieving the seemingly impossible goal, and in the end of September 1941 the enemy was stopped on the outskirts of the city and had to go over to defence.
The book narrating about the events of August-September 1941, contains over 130 photographs, as well as maps, combat operation diagrams, and coloured drawings of the combat materiel that was used by the warring contending parties.
