I-3 Fighter (N.Polikarpov Construction) was the basic aircraft model In the USSR Air Forces fighter aviation at the end of 1920-ies-beginning of 1930-ies.

The Fighter aircraft model was approved in 1927, on May 14. Its first specimen enhighed with BMW-6, was produced In spring 1928. It was one-seated one-and-a-half plane aircraft with a glued out of lead monocoque fuselage of oval section.
The aircraft had rectangular linen covered wings with rounded tips and was armed with two synchronously operating machineguns "Wikkers" or'PV-1".
I-3 Fighter serial production, equipped with engine M-17, was begun in this same year of 1928. The total number of constructed alrcrafts amounted to approximately five hundred.
