The Su-37 programme works were begun in 1988. For all thes the main task was to improve the Su fighters maneuver characteristics both at high speeds with great overbadings and at low speeds which had not been accessible for jets earlier. The Su - 35 fighter is a prototype of the Su - 37 aircraft with a subsequent modernization of the controls and a better level of the cabin comfort. The main distinctive feature of the Su - 37 is its unsurpassed maneuverability as the idea of the thrust vector changing in flight is realized in the design. The Su-37 board complex allows to forestall a strike against any even barely visible air targets as well as to attack ground targets without entering the enemy air defence zone. The first Su-37 trial flight was performed in 1996 April 2 by Eugene Frolov - test - pilot of Sukhoi Design Bureau, hero of the Russian Federation. The general designer of the Su - 37 is V.
