ACE-72144 1/72 MT-LBM (6MB) Russian Multipurpose Tracked Vehicle model kit

The MT-LB light armored utility vehicle has disappeared from the scene for several years. Development and production of the vehicle had been centered around the Kharkov Tractor Plant, now in Ukraine. However, one of the alternate plants, the Muromteplovoz, is now offering the vehicles again. Murom unveiled three new versions. The MT-LBM is a new configuration of the MT-LB aimed at providing a better armament package. The MT-LBM (6MA) is fitted with the standard 14.5mm KPVT heavy machine gun turret like that fitted on the BTR-70 and BTR-80. The MT-LBM (6MB) is fitted with the 30mm cannon turret fitted to the BTR-80A. The third version of the revived series is the AZM, an air-transportable earth-mover, also fitted with a bulldozer blade.
The MT-LB was developed in the late 1960s as the replacement for the older AT-P armoured tracked artillery tractor and was initially known as the M1970 multipurpose tracked vehicle until its correct designation became known. Typical roles of the MT-LB include use as an artillery prime mover towing 100mm anti-tank guns and 122 mm howitzers, command and radio vehicle (which usually has at least two whip antennas on the roof), artillery fire-control vehicle and cargo carrier. It is also widely used as an armoured personnel carrier, especially in difficult terrain such as snow or swamp. The hull of the MT-LB is all-welded steel with the crew compartment at the front, engine immediately behind the crew compartment on the left side and the troop compartment at the rear of the hull.
The driver sits at the front of the hull on the left side and has a single piece hatch cover. The commander sits to the right of the driver in the centre and has a single piece rear-opening hatch cover ancftwo periscopes.
